The Breitling Navitimer, without a doubt, is one of the most iconic watch models of all time. With Breitling still producing it today with minor variances, it is also one of the most recognizable, partly thanks to its imposing size and distinctive inner rotating bezel.
The Navitimer has its roots in aviation, as Breitling collaborate with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) to make a tool watch that offered maximum functionality for a pilot. Using their iconic slide rule inner rotating bezel, this allowed a pilot to record all the information he needed for aviation and its large 42mm size made legibility very easy.
With its twin jet logo, the Ref. 806 is one of the most respected vintage watches to collect, with price creeping up in recent years, making this particular example even more desirable. You see, it comes as a full set, with its box and papers and is in immaculate, unpolished condition. The dial is flawless and glossy and the case retains its original finish and strong bevels. Furthermore, this example is very collectible as it is a transitional model, most recognisable but the red ‘boxed 10’. I doubt you will find a nicer or more complete example, and this is certainly a collector grade watch.
